Total joint arthroplasty (TJA) is one of the most successful of orthopedic procedures. Evidence demonstrates early discharge primary TJA to be safe and cost saving, without increasing readmission rates.
However, despite the clinical success of primary TJA, complications requiring revision remain a costly societal burden. As the demand for TJA increases, so will the number of revisions.
